interactive table “ver de perto”(seeing up close) | Panels of S. vincent

National Museum of Ancient Art (MNAA)

Design | UX/UI (User Experience / User Interface)

The Saint Vincent Panels are a work of the greatest symbolic importance in Portuguese 15th century culture and a unique “collective portrait” in the history of European painting.

Before proceeding with the restoration that began in 2020, careful photographic recording was carried out, as well as infrared reflectographies, X-rays and a dendrochronological study of the base panels of the painting.

Now, through an interactive digital table, it is possible to access this collection of images that allow us to “cross through” the various layers of the Panels, see details under a magnifying glass, understand how it was designed and marvel at its technical and symbolic complexity.

It is also now possible to explore additional content regarding this important work of art, navigate through relevant historical data and a detailed timeline with the greatest personalities and events of this important period of Portugal’s history.
